Sometime in 1994, Elliott played in a Devo tribute band called Spudboys for the first time. This show at La Luna is known to be the first of three to four times (according to Sean Croghan) that Spudboys played. They definitely played on 5/20/94 (see entry later in the timeline) so this show must have been prior to that. However, I'm not sure of the exact date or even month so it's placement on the timeline is a very iffy guess.
According to the description of the YouTube video posted by the "musicofeyelids" account, this show took place at La Luna but was for the X-Ray Cafe Talent Show. The description states that Spudboys are:
Alan: Nate Slusarenko (of Sprinkler, Rawhead Rex)
Gerard: Sam Coomes (of Quasi, Deep Fried Boogie Band)
Bob 1: Elliott Smith (of Heatmiser)
Bob 2: Sean Croghan (of Crackerbash, Pynnacles)
Mark: Chris Slusarenko (of Eyelids, Guided by Voices)
Setlist (taken from a YouTube comment):
Entrance on stage to the Devo Corporate Anthem
Uncontrollable Urge
Blockhead
Freedom of Choice
The Day My Baby Gave Me a Surprize
Come Back Jonee

Below is a short article from the January/February 2001 issue of Magnet that mentions this cover band.
