USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS455]
This compilation album of mostly unreleased songs and also a few songs from compilations was put out in 2007 and this pressing is the original US pressing on Kill Rock Stars. It's a double album. The credits state that cover art and layout are by Mike King and title type by Chanda Helzer and Mike King. The shrinkwrap (at least upon original release) had a small square sticker stating that there was a free mp3 download. There is no insert of any type other than that mp3 download code. All the credits and photos are on the two inner sleeves. One inner sleeve lists lots of details about the songs and some words written by Larry Crane in 2006. The other inner sleeve has memories written by Christopher O'Riley, Rebecca Gates, Sean Croghan, and Sam Coomes. Barcode/matrix info according to Discogs:

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS455; 2015 reissue]
This is a reissue pressing of New Moon on vinyl that doesn't differ too much from the original pressing listed above. According to Discogs, this pressing came out in 2015. It's on black vinyl. The main difference is that the matrix numbers have some additional added numbers to it indicating an actual repressing with new stampers (I believe). At the very least, it makes it easy to distinguish this pressing from the original. The packaging appears to be mostly identical to the original. However, I did notice that the inner sleeves are a bit different. On these ones, the top of the sleeves have both sides meeting at the same height/place, while the original pressing had one side of the inner sleeves a little lower than the other, not meeting flush. If that makes sense. Barcode and matrix info taken from Discogs:

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS455; black and opaque blue vinyl 2017 reissue]
This 2017 reissue of New Moon on Kill Rock Stars was a Newbury Comics exclusive and limited to 500 copies. It is on black and opaque blue vinyl. The shrinkwrap has a sticker stating that its an exclusive and about the colored vinyl. Other than the color of the vinyl and the shrinkwrap sticker, this looks to be identical to the original Kill Rock Stars pressing. Barcode according to Discogs is 759656045513.

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS 455; blue and white cloudy vinyl 2020 reissue]
This 2020 reissue of New Moon on Kill Rock Stars was a Newbury Comics exclusive and limited to 500 copies. It is on blue and white cloudy vinyl. The shrinkwrap has a sticker stating that its an exclusive and about the colored vinyl. Other than the color of the vinyl and the shrinkwrap sticker, this looks to be identical to the original Kill Rock Stars pressing. Also contains code for mp3's. Barcode according to Discogs is 759656045513.
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS 455; blue and clear pinwheel vinyl 2021 reissue]
This 2021 vinyl reissue on Kill Rock Stars of New Moon was available exclusively through Newbury Comics. It was limited to 750 copies. It's on blue and clear pinwheel vinyl. Other than the vinyl color, there are no major differences from past pressings. There's a sticker on the front of the shrink wrap with the details of the vinyl and it being limited. It comes with a small download code with a photo of the album cover on it. The shrink wrap also has a small, blank rectangular sticker on it covering up the barcode that's on the back cover of the album.
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS455; pink vinyl 2022 reissue]
This 2022 reissue of New Moon is on pink vinyl. It was part of Kill Rock Stars' celebration of their 30th anniversary as a record label. Like many other KRS releases, it was given a very limited run on pink vinyl, just 91 copies. All copies are numbered. This ended up being released in 2022 but was probably meant for a 2021 release but maybe had a delay in the vinyl getting made on time?
In February 2024, Kill Rock Stars put a limited amount of additional pink vinyl copies up for sale for many of Elliott's records, including this one. These ones were not numbered but presumably everything else about these are the same as the 2021 pink vinyl copies. They were listed as a "warehouse find" so they probably had a few left over of each release, that they put for sale at this time. The few of them that I've seen have had a small round sticker on the shrink wrap that says "Ltd. Edition Colored Vinyl" and has the KRS logo on it.
The one major exception to all this was the self-titled pink copies sold in 2024. These were in regular, single LP self-titled sleeves as opposed to the 2021 pink copies that came with the coffee table book and two LP's. These may not have been leftovers but an actual full batch of 91-ish (it said 115 copies on the KRS bandcamp page) that were never sold in 2021 and were only sold in 2024.

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS455; 2023 (or 2022?) black vinyl with KRS sticker]
Kill Rock Stars reissued New Moon on black vinyl with a KRS sticker on the shrink wrap in late 2022 or early 2023. The sticker is similar to the 2021 sticker used on many Elliott items to celebrate the label's 30th anniversary. But this sticker just has the KRS logo and no mention of 30 years. I wasn't aware of this pressing at all until I came across a test pressing (see entry below) that had different matrix info than any New Moon copy I had seen. Then I tracked down this pressing of New Moon and the matrix matched the test pressing. Side A has matrix of KRS455 A and then also 40580.1(3)... along with TELEGRAPH-GONSALVES. Side B is identical other than it's changed to KRS455 B and 40580.2(3) and so on for the other sides. I believe that most or all previous New Moon vinyl was mastered at SAE and the matrix indicated that but this one was done at Telegraph by Adam Gonsalves. He let me know that it was done in 2022 but I'm not sure if the records started showing up in stores in 2022 or 2023 so I'm not sure which year to accurately place it in. Please see hype sticker from the shrink wrap below.
USA LP Test Pressing [Kill Rock Stars KRS455; 2023 (or 2022?) from black vinyl pressing with KRS sticker]
This is a test pressing from the black vinyl reissue in the entry above this one. The copy I have seen just comes in two plain white outer sleeves and the records have totally blank center labels. No indication which album this is other than identifying it by the matrix numbers. Side A has matrix of KRS455 A and then also 40580.1(3)... along with TELEGRAPH-GONSALVES. Side B is identical other than it's changed to KRS455 B and 40580.2(3) and so on for the other sides. I believe that most or all previous New Moon vinyl was mastered at SAE and the matrix indicated that. But this one was done at Telegraph by Adam Gonsalves. He let me know that it was done in 2022 but I'm not sure if the records started showing up in stores in 2022 or 2023 so I'm not sure which year to accurately place it in. Please see photos below for the very plain packaging of this test pressing.
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS 455; frosted blue vinyl 2023 reissue]
This 2023 vinyl reissue on Kill Rock Stars of New Moon was available exclusively through Newbury Comics. It was limited to 750 copies. It's on frosted blue vinyl. Other than the vinyl color, there are no major differences from past pressings. There's a sticker on the front of the shrink wrap with the details of the vinyl and it mentions it being limited and the color of the vinyl. The sticker on the front has the barcode that would be scanned for this pressing.

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS 455; half moon yellow and blue vinyl 2023 reissue]
This 2023 vinyl reissue on Kill Rock Stars of New Moon was available exclusively through Rough Trade. It was limited to 500 copies. It's on half moon yellow and blue vinyl. Other than the vinyl color, there are no major differences from past pressings. There's a sticker on the front of the shrink wrap with the details of the vinyl and it being limited. The sticker also has a little blurb about the album. The shrink wrap also has a small, blank rectangular sticker on it covering up the barcode that's on the back cover of the album. The sticker on the front has the barcode that would be scanned for this pressing.
Please contact me if I'm getting mixed up. But when I ordered this one (and what I'm still seeing on the Rough Trade site) is a version that says opaque green/transparent dark blue half and half vinyl and limited to 700 copies. I assume this 500 copy version on this entry with slightly different colors replaced that? Other collectors have said that their copy does have the sticker saying 500 copies (not 700) but it seems like perhaps the blue and yellow sometimes got distributed in different ways, making the colors not uniform on each copy. I'm colorblind but my daughter said the non-yellow half of mine looked sea green when not held up to a light. But that same half looked aqua blue when help up to the light. So I guess the two halves of any particular copy are some combination of yellow/green/blue.

USA CD [Kill Rock Stars KRS455]
The US pressing of the CD for New Moon comes in a digipak and is on two CD's. It comes with a twelve page booklet. The booklet mostly contains all the information that is on the inner sleeves of the LP's. One of the inner sleeve photos from the LP is in the booklet while the other inner sleeve photo is on one of the flaps of this digipak. The booklet has two additional photos that I don't see anywhere in the LP packaging. A mini Kill Rock stars catalog is also included as an insert, just a single two-sided square. The text on the spine of this CD version also duplicates the font that is used on the cover (as opposed to the LP that uses a more plain font). It seems that all copies I’ve seen in the US say Made in Canada on the back and on the matrix area of the CD. It’s likely that just one pressing was made for release in both the US and Canada but I’m not positive.
---------------------------------------------------
Canada CD [Kill Rock Stars KRS455]
This Canadian CD pressing is pretty much identical to the US pressing of the CD.. In fact, my copy (bought in the US) does say Made in Canada on the back and so does every single used copy I see on ebay right now. So perhaps all US copies also were actually made in Canada and there is only one pressing that was meant for both the US and Canada markets? Barcode/matrix info according to Discogs:

Holland CD [Universal 0602547529336]
On Discogs, this Universal CD reissue is listed as being released in 2007 but was perhaps released in 2017 when Universal did a reissue of the LP also. The packaging is mostly identical to the 2007 Domino CD other than the obvious record label/legal things that have been changed. On the back cover, it lists an address in The Netherlands and says Made in the EU. Instead of saying "2007 The Estate of Elliott Smith" like on the 2007 Domino CD, this one says "2007 successors in interest to the Estate of Elliott Smith". See photo of back cover below. The barcode listed on Discogs is 6 02547 52933 6.

Japan CD [P-Vine/Kill Rock Stars PCD-17128/9]
This Japanese CD pressing of New Moon was released in 2007 according to an entry on the P-Vine website (see photo below). Kill Rock Stars licensed P-Vine, a Japanese record label, to release a lot of Elliott's albums around 2007-2010 or so. I'm not sure what the story with the catalog number is with the slash in it, but that's how it's listed on the P-Vine site.

South Korea CD [Domino WIGCD189SK]
This CD pressing of New Moon from South Korea has many differences from most (maybe all) other CD pressings. First off, it comes in a jewel case that fits two CD's rather than a the thick digipak that the US pressing and others come in. Because the booklet also serves as the cover through the front of the clear jewel case, the booklet itself has Elliott's name and the album title on the front of it, unlike the booklet on other pressings. This pressing also comes with a unique four page extra booklet that has a little English but it mostly in Korean. There's also a sticker on the front of the shrinkwrap that has mostly Korean writing but also says "Pitchfork" and "2CD for 1 Price" in English. Interestingly, the catalog number is similar to the normal Domino catalog number but with the 8 and 9 switched around and an SK added to the end of it. So this catalog number is WIGCD189SK. Barcode is 8804795015513.

UK/Europe LP [Domino WIGLP198]
This is the original vinyl pressing in the UK/Europe, released in 2007 upon the album's initial release. The packaging is basically identical to that of the US pressing other than record label info/logos/catalog number. It came with a sticker on the front of the shrink wrap that says "180GM Heavyweight Virgin Vinyl" and "Comes with MP3s!". Barcode info according to Discogs:

UK/Europe LP [Domino WIGLP198; 2014 reissue]
This reissue popped up on Discogs in early 2021 or so. The person who added it states that the matrix numbers indicate it's not the 2007 original Domino pressing but a reissue that still has the same catalog number of WIGLP198. No additional photos of this version are on Discogs as of this writing. Barcode/matrix info taken from Discogs is:

UK/Europe LP [Universal 602547529527; 2017 reissue]
New Moon was reissued in the UK/Europe by Universal as part of their Back to Black vinyl series. The packaging is mostly the same as other pressings of New Moon, same inner sleeves, same labels, etc. There are differences of course in record label/catalog numbers. This pressing does come with a unique sticker on the shrinkwrap stating that it's part of the Back to Black series. Also, the download card has the Back to Black logo on it. Barcode according to Discogs is 602547529527.

UK/Europe CD [Domino WIGCD198]
This is the original UK/Europe CD pressing. Like the US version, it is in a digipak and has two CD's. The back cover mentions "The Estate of Elliott Smith" in the copyright info. Barcode/matrix (several variants) according to Discogs:

UK Promo CD [Domino WIGCD198]
The UK release of New Moon was promoted by Domino with this promo CD. It has the same catalog number as the commercially released CD pressing. However, it does not come with full artwork. It comes in a plastic sleeve that is sealed with a sticker. The back artwork is blank. The front has the catalog number, Elliott's name and the album title near the top. Right in the middle is the name and company of the reviewer that it was sent to. At the bottom of the front, it says:
"THIS CD IS WATERMARKED all track identifier sections
are traceable back to the original receiver
Do Not Make Unauthorised extraction or copies"
More info and photos are needed of the actual CD inside the package. For some reason, there is a listing on Discogs for a US promo on Kill Rock Stars but the photo on that entry is actually this UK promo on Domino.
Photos taken from discogs.com. (owner of the CD has been blanked out).
New Moon Album Sampler UK Promo CD [Domino no catalog number]
This four track promo CD was released by Domino in the UK to promote the album. It doesn't have a catalog number listed anywhere. It comes in a plastic wallet sleeve and within in that, it is in a foldover paper sleeve that is connected (and perforated on the left side). It has the typical New Moon art on the front. The back has no photo. It just has the basic info about the CD and lists the release date of New Moon. The back and the CD itself both list information on a contact person at Domino. The songs on the CD are New Monkey, High Times, Fear City, and Either/Or.
