USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; 2012 180g reissue]
This is the first 180g pressing of this record. This reissue came out in 2012. There is a little sticker on the shrinkwrap on the front that says "now on 180g vinyl includes download code". It comes with the lyric sheet insert as usual. Discogs mentions a double sided Kill Rock Stars catalog being included. That was likely in early copies of this as newer copies have been received without the catalog. The artwork on the front and back cover is a darker shade than the original Kill Rock Stars pressing. USA Double LP with Book [Kill Rock Stars KRS656; 2020 reissue]
This is a very extensive reissue of the self-titled album that came out in 2020. Vinyl pressings included two different colored vinyl versions (see entries below). This is the black vinyl pressing. This reissue contains a remastered version of the album along with a live album. The live recording is the earliest known recording of an Elliott Smith solo show and is from September 17, 1994 at Umbra Penumbra in Portland, Oregon.
The LP's come housed inside a 52 page cloth bound book. The book contains many photos taken by JJ Gonson and also has some people sharing their memories of Elliott. The book cover is black with white writing for the written parts on the cover and spine. The part of the artwork of the two people falling is also black but not in cloth but more of a smooth material. The inside cover pages have the artwork that is the normal back artwork from previous, typical pressings of the album. This same photo is used on one side of the inner sleeve for the main LP while the other side of the inner sleeve has the front artwork of people falling. The inner sleeve of the live LP has a picture of a cassette labeled "Elliott Live at Umbra Penumbra 9/17/94" on one side and the tracklisting of the album on the other side.
The shrinkwrap has a round sticker on the front that talks about how it's the 25th anniversary of the album. It also mentions the live album and the book. There is also a rectangular sticker on the back of the shrinkwrap which mainly lists the songs on each record. Barcode taken from Discogs is 759656065610.
USA Double LP with Book [Kill Rock Stars KRS656; 2020 reissue, yellow vinyl]
This is a very extensive reissue of the self-titled album that came out in 2020. Vinyl pressings included this yellow pressing, a blue pressing (see entry below) and a black pressing (see entry above). This reissue contains a remastered version of the album along with a live album. The live recording is the earliest known recording of an Elliott Smith solo show and is from September 17, 1994 at Umbra Penumbra in Portland, Oregon. This yellow pressing was limited to 1,500 copies.
The packaging and the book seem to be identical to the black vinyl version except for two things. First, the color of the vinyl, obviously, is yellow for this one. Also the front shrinkwrap has an additional small sticker that says "LTD EDITION COLORED VINYL" along with the Kill Rock Stars logo. For all other details about the packaging, please see the black vinyl entry above. Barcode and matrix info taken from Discogs:

USA Double LP with Book [Kill Rock Stars KRS656; 2020 reissue, blue electric vinyl]
This is a very extensive reissue of the self-titled album that came out in 2020. Vinyl pressings included this blue electric vinyl, a yellow vinyl pressing , and a black vinyl pressing (see two entries above for those ones). This blue vinyl was exclusive to indie record stores.
First, the color of the vinyl, obviously, is blue for this one. Also the round sticker on the front of the shrinkwrap has a different color scheme and also adds "INDIE EXCLUSIVE COLORED VINYL" on it. For all other details about the packaging, please see the black vinyl entry above. Barcode and matrix according to Discogs:

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; blue/white split vinyl 2020 reissue]
This 2020 reissue of the self-titled album is on blue/white split vinyl. It was available exclusively from Newbury Comics and limited to 750 copies. Other than the vinyl color and the Newbury sticker on the front of the shrink wrap, the packaging is basically the same as any other (non-anniversary edition) Kill Rock Stars pressing. It also came with an mp3 code. Barcode (on the sticker on back of shrink wrap) is 7 59656 02464 8.
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; red vinyl with black swirl 2021 reissue]
This reissue of the self-titled album was available exclusively from Best Buy. It's on red vinyl with black swirl and was limited to 500 copies. Like the 2021 reissue below, the artwork looks to be more black than dark blue. Also, the back is different (see entries below for more details) as far as the KRS logo and mailing/website addresses listed in the bottom right corner. The front of the shrink wrap has a small sticker stating the details of this pressing. My copy is still sealed but presumably the rest of the packaging is the same as previous pressings. Barcode and matrix info according to Discogs:
- Matrix / Runout (Side A, etched): KRS246-A-R CP19-0120A-R TELEGRAPH-GONSALVES
- Matrix / Runout (Side B, etched): KRS246-B-R CP19-0120B-R TELEGRAPH-GONSALVES

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; black vinyl 2021 reissue]
This reissue of the self-titled album was to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Kill Rock Stars. This one is on black vinyl but there was also a purple vinyl pressing released at the same time. There are a few differences on this pressing compared to pressings from 2020 and before. The artwork is much darker. I'm colorblind but it appears to actually be black instead of a dark blue. Also, the bottom right area of the back cover has changed from previous pressings. Instead of spelling out Kill Rock Stars and then listing the label's mailing address, it now has the Kill Rock Stars logo with an actual star in it. And there is no mailing address but rather the Kill Rock Stars website and an Elliott Smith website listed. The front of the shrink wrap has a sticker with the KRS30 logo which also mentions it being a remaster. This sticker also has a quote from Steve Huey of ALL MUSIC. My copy is still sealed but presumably nothing about the record or the inside packaging is different from earlier pressings. Barcode according to Discogs is 759656024662.
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; purple vinyl 2021 reissue]
This reissue of the self-titled album was to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Kill Rock Stars. This one is on purple vinyl and was an indie exclusive colored vinyl. The purple seems darker than the 2023 purple vinyl (see entry on this page) and even has some blue and red streaks in it. There was also a black vinyl pressing released at the same time (see entry above). There are a few differences on this pressing compared to pressings from 2020 and before. The artwork is much darker. I'm colorblind but it appears to actually be black instead of a dark blue. Also, the bottom right area of the back cover has changed from previous pressings. And there is no mailing address but rather the Kill Rock Stars website and an Elliott Smith website listed. The front of the shrink wrap has a sticker with the KRS30 logo, similar but a bit different from the black vinyl pressing above. The sticker mentions it being a remaster and that it's an indie exclusive vinyl. Barcode according to Discogs:
- Barcode: 759656024655
Based on my copy, side A matrix is KRS246A R with CP-19-0120A R directly below it. Also in the matrix is "Telegraph-Gonsalves" and 37240.1(2)...
Side B is KRS246B R with CP-19-0120B R directly below it.
Also in the matrix is "Telegraph-Gonsalves" and 37240.2(2)...

USA Double LP with Book [Kill Rock Stars KRS656; pink vinyl 2022 reissue]
This 2022 reissue of the self-titled album is on pink vinyl and it's the edition that comes with the coffee table book and the Live at Umbra Penumbra record. It was part of Kill Rock Stars' celebration of their 30th anniversary as a record label. Like many other KRS releases, it was given a very limited run on pink vinyl, just 91 copies. All copies are numbered. Other than the pink vinyl and the numbered sticker, the rest of the packaging appears to be the same as other pressings of the double vinyl/book version. Photos taken from discogs.com
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; lighter purple vinyl 2023 reissue]
The self-titled album was reissued again in early 2023 on Kill Rock Stars. The front shrink wrap had a Kill Rock Stars sticker on the front. However, the sticker is different than the ones from 2021 since this one makes no mention of the KRS 30 year anniversary anymore. The sticker has a quote about the album from Steve Huey of All Music. Interestingly, the sticker makes no mention of this pressing also being on purple vinyl. However, this purple vinyl appears to be a bit of a different pressing from the 2021 purple. The color is quite a bit lighter/brighter and there are some differences in the matrix numbers.
Based on my copy (although Discogs as of this writing doesn't agree but people may have copied and pasted from a previous copy on there), the a-side matrix is:
KRS246A with "Telegraph-Gonsalves" on the other side.
B-side matrix is KRS246B and "Telegraph-Gonsalves".
Any other matrix markings from the 2021 purple are not on this one as far as I can tell.
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; clear with purple and gold splatter vinyl 2023 reissue]
This reissue of the self-titled album was available exclusively from Newbury Comics. It's on clear with purple and gold splatter vinyl and was limited to 1,000 copies. The front of the shrink wrap has a rectangular sticker stating the details of this pressing. Some photos taken from newburycomics.com
USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; blue and white tie dye vinyl Bandbox 2023 reissue]
This 2023 reissue of Elliott's self-titled album was on Kill Rock Stars but was available exclusively through Bandbox. It is on blue and white tie dye vinyl. That is how the Discogs listing describes it despite the pre-sale calling it purple and white. This pressing was announced and pre-sold in July 2023. It kept getting delayed and eventually Bandbox went out of business in March 2024 before most orders were shipped to buyers. Some Discogs users have clicked that it's in their collection and photos of it exist on Discogs. I believe that some people asked Bandbox why the delay was taking so long and Bandbox agreed to ship the album without the zine that was supposed to eventually go with it. As of this writing, there are likely few of these with actual fans or collectors and probably none of them have the zine. It is still up in the air at this point (March 2024) if other buyers will ever get theirs.

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; clementine orange vinyl 2024 reissue]
This reissue of the self-titled album was available exclusively from Rough Trade. It's on clementine orange vinyl and was limited to 500 copies. The front of the shrink wrap has a sticker stating the details of this pressing (see photo below).

USA LP [Kill Rock Stars KRS246; pink vinyl 2024 reissue]
In early 2024, Kill Rock Stars put pink vinyl copies of many of Elliott's albums up for sale. I believe that for most of the albums (other than perhaps this one), these were all leftover copies from the limited-to-91 pink pressings from several years prior. The KRS bandcamp called them leftovers for most albums and they were all advertised as being unnumbered this time, unlike the original numbered pink versions. They were all released with the same packaging as the earlier pink pressings except for this self-titled one. For this particular album, the original, numbered pink copies were the deluxe versions with the coffee table book. However, this new pink pressing is in a regular, single LP sleeve for this album. Furthermore, the KRS bandcamp didn't call them leftovers for this album, it actually stated "115 pink copies pressed up to celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2021. Un-numbered". So there is conjecture, and it's perhaps likely, that they had 115 of these made in 2021 but never sold any of them in this regular type sleeve at the time and sold all 115 in 2024, as opposed to selling leftover ones like for the other albums. The shrink wrap had a small sticker saying "Ltd. Edition Kill Rock Stars Colored Vinyl" (see below).

USA & Canada CD [Kill Rock Stars KRS246]
This is the original CD pressing from 1995. It includes an eight panel CD booklet with lyrics and credits. It also includes a Kill Rock Stars catalog/order form that is different than the one in the LP. The catalog/order form may vary depending on when the CD was bought.
Several versions seem to be on Discogs. Some are CD's that seemed to be made in Canada and were perhaps sold in both the US and Canada. They say MADE IN CANADA BY AMERIC DISC in the matrix/runout. Another version mentions DISTRONICS USA in the matrix/runout and is perhaps more of a US only version.
One or both of these versions were likely pressed for quite a few years after 1995. See photos below for an earlier catalog that doesn't have a website yet. And another catalog now has the KRS website and lists releases from the year 2000 on KRS but was still found in this self-titled CD.
USA CD [Kill Rock Stars KRS246, year unknown reissue in digipak]
I am not sure what year this pressing was put out, but this reissue cd of the self-titled album is the only US pressing I've seen in a digipak rather than a jewel case (there is a European pressing that's also in a digipak). It comes with a round sticker on the front of the shrink wrap that says "Good news Crazed MP3 Fans
A legal download is included with the purchase of this compact disc". The sticker also has the KRS logo and says "it's on the house". My copy is sealed so I don't have details on the inside of the packaging at this time.

USA Double CD with Book [Kill Rock Stars KRS656; 2020 reissue]
This is the CD version of the 2020 reissue with live album and book. See entries a little above for all the vinyl versions and more details on the packaging. Like the vinyl versions, this has the remastered version of the album plus an extra disc of the 1994 live show. The shrinkwrap has a round sticker on front, similar to the vinyl version. On the back, it also has a similar sticker to the vinyl pressings, with the same information but just on a square sticker rather than rectangular do to the smaller size of the overall packaging. The book looks to be an exact replica of the large book that comes with the vinyl except its a mini size book, around CD size. It comes with pockets in the front and back inside covers to hold the CD's. Barcode according to Discogs is 759656065627.

Europe LP [Domino REWIGLP1; 180g 2010 reissue]
According to Discogs, this 2010 reissue is a European release but has the same catalog number as the 1998 UK reissue LP on Domino. It's 180g vinyl and comes with a download code. Discogs mentions that the back cover states: P1998 and C2010 the estate of Elliott Smith. Barcode/matrix info according to Discogs:

Europe LP [Universal Music Group 602547529398; 180g 2017 reissue]
This 2017 reissue on Universal Music Group in on 180g vinyl. It is part of the Back to Black series of LP's put out by Universal in celebration of the 60th anniversary of "long-playing vinyl". There isn't a whole lot different about this pressing than other typical pressings other than record label/catalog number details, etc. The insert is the typical lyric/credit sheet but of course it doesn't have a KRS catalog as early pressings did. It does have the unique Back to Black sticker on the front of the shrinkwrap and also a download card with the Back to Black logo on it.

Europe Double LP with Book [Polydor 5392321; 2020 reissue]
This is the European pressing for the 2020 reissue with book. The Discogs listing lists the record label as Polydor. However, I do see a Universal Music logo under the barcode (as opposed to the US pressings that only have Kill Rock Stars but not Universal). The packaging is basically identical to US pressings other than record label stuff, etc. and this release is black vinyl. It has the remastered album and the live set from Umbra Penumbra.

Europe CD [Kill Rock Stars/Universal Music Group 0602547529114; digisleeve 2015 reissue]
This 2015 European reissue CD was issued in a two panel Digisleeve/digipak type packaging. It's one of very few pressings of this album in this type of packaging and not in a standard jewel case. Instead of a long, rectangular lyric/credits insert as in the standard CD, this one has a foldout insert that is square, more like a smaller version of the LP insert. Like certain copies of Roman Candle, this has Elliott's name written slightly differently on the spine. See photo, where this version is the thin one on top. Matrix info from Discogs:

Europe Double CD with Book [Kill Rock Stars/Universal KRS656/00600753923245 ; 2020 reissue]
This pressing does mention Netherlands in the credits but I'm just listing it under Europe since I'm not sure. It's possible that it was made in Netherlands but intended as a general release for Europe. US pressings of this are solely from Kill Rock Stars but this pressing has the Kill Rock Stars logo and also the logo for Universal Music Group on the sticker on the back of the shrinkwrap. The book itself appears to be identical to the US version. However, the barcode is different (this barcode is 600753923245) on the back sticker. The catalog number, which is just the barcode with two extra zeros at the beginning, is also listed on the CD faces and the sticker on the front of the shrinkwrap. It has the remastered album and the live set from Umbra Penumbra.

France CD [Domino 463232; 1998 reissue]
This French CD was released in 1998. It’s perhaps the only French pressing of any format for this album. Based on the photos on Discogs, the jewel case has a sticker hyping the album in French. Barcode according to Discogs is 724384632328.

Japan CD [P-Vine/Kill Rock Stars PCD-20024]
This Japanese CD pressing of the self-titled album was released in 2008. Kill Rock Stars licensed P-Vine, a Japanese record label, to release a lot of Elliott's albums around 2007-2010 or so. If you remove the obi, the CD packaging is basically a normal US CD, with the catalog number KRS246 on the spine. However, the obi has its own unique barcode and also catalog number of PCD-20024. The obi states that it's licensed to P-Vine and Blues Interactions, Inc. (which I think is part of P-Vine?) by Kill Rock Stars. The back part of the obi shows that Either/Or was also available from P-Vine at the time. It comes with the typical booklet but also a unique 12 page booklet (see some photos of it below).

Japan Double CD with Book [Kill Rock Stars CDKRS656JP; 2020 reissue]
The 2020 reissue of the self-titled album and the Umbra Penumbra show was released in Japan but just on this 2 CD set, no vinyl pressing. The book and CD's come shrinkwrapped and appear to be exactly the same as the US pressing of the CD version. It comes with the small size book, not the full size. Outside of the shrinkwrap are two things unique to this Japanese pressing. First, there is an obi that mentions it being the 25th anniversary edition on the front and song titles are on the back. The side of the obi lists unique catalog number CDKRS656JP. The second unique item is a Japanese-only four page booklet. See photos below for more details. Barcode on the obi is 4988044878594.

South Korea CD [Domino REWIGCD1K, EKPD-1428; 2007 reissue]
This CD was put out in 2007 so it mentions The Estate of Elliott Smith on the back cover. The catalog number is similar to other Domino CD pressings of this album except that it adds a letter K to the end of it and the spine and CD face also add an extra number of EKPD-1428. It includes the normal booklet that's in all other CD pressings along with an extra booklet that is unique to this release. The extra booklet has lyrics in English and Korean and what appears to be a biography about Elliott written in Korean. Please see photos below.

UK LP [Domino REWIGLP1; 1998 reissue]
This is the first vinyl pressing since the original Kill Rock Stars US pressing in 1995. It is the only time that it was pressed by Domino prior to Elliott's death so it can be identified by the back cover only saying 1998 on it. It doesn't mention Elliott's estate or any later year like 2010 as later pressings do (listed in the Europe section of this page, not UK). There are other subtle differences from later Domino pressings also such as the barcode placement on the back cover (top right corner for this one) and the record label/legal stuff on the center labels being placed differently. The matrix info is interesting. When I first got this copy, I thought the record itself was a Kill Rock Stars pressing because the matrix still has all the matrix info from original KRS pressings (KRS-246-Side A and also L-44537 on the a-side). But then it also has Domino matrix info added to it: REWIG LP 1 A -1-1-1 on the a-side and similar on the b-side but with a B instead of an A).

UK CD [Domino REWIGCD1; 1998 reissue]
This is the first reissue of this album on CD since the original 1995 pressing on Kill Rock Stars. Since it's on Domino, there is no Kill Rock Stars catalog included. Most of the rest of the packaging is similar to US pressings other than record label/legal info. See entry below for a later repressing of the CD with the same catalog number but some different info on the back cover.
UK CD [Domino REWIGCD1; unknown year reissue]
Sometime after Elliott's death, the self-titled album was reissued on CD in the UK by Domino but I'm not sure which year(s). The catalog number remained the same as the 1998 CD pressing, REWIGCD1. The main difference is that the back insert has info mentioning "The Estate of Elliott Smith". The barcode is also the same as the 1998 version although the size of the barcode box and the formatting are slightly different. The CD face seems to be identical to the 1998 pressing although the matrix numbers on the inner ring do differ. The spine is basically the same as the 1998 pressing although the catalog number and his name on the 1998 appears to look a little more sharp while this on this one, the characters are blurrier or bulkier. The information on the spine is also pushed over a tiny bit on this pressing compared to the 1998 one.
