The Shytown/No Confidence Man split 7" single was released sometime toward the end of 1994 but the date is unknown. It was released on Slo-Mo Records. Below, there is a photo of an insert from the So What Else Do You Do? cassette taken from an Instagram post. The insert makes it sound like it was possibly due to be released around October 1st. However, it was recorded in August so it's doubtful it was released that early. It most likely was released in early December, possibly on December 6. The flyer for the December 6 La Luna show states that it's a record release party for this record, although the single wasn't necessarily released on that exact date. Please see that flyer on the 12/6/94 entry.
According to the back cover of the original 7", Elliott Smith and Pete Krebs recorded Shytown and No Confidence Man on 8/14/94 at Sam and Janet's house.
The back cover also states that "Pete and Elliott played guitars, cymbal, drum, piano, harmonica, housekeys, freak-out godzilla head, and we both sang".
The back cover says Shytown by Pete, No Confidence Man by Elliott.
The insert says that the art is by Chanda Helzer.
The reissue of this 7" in 2016 has its own page on the timeline since it was given new cover art.

Photos below were taken from Discogs other than the So What Else Do You Do? cassette insert which was taken from an unknown Instagram account. Also, the ad for the 7", I'm not sure which Instagram that account was taken from either. My assumption is that ad was designed by Mike King since he's mentioned on it. The ad states it was coming out in October but it was likely pushed back to December as explained above.
